MaricopaNursing Program • Four-semester nursing program: Blocks 1-4 • Includes full time, part time, accelerated, hybrid, evening, and weekend options • Clinical experiences provided in variety of agencies throughout the Valley • On completion students are awarded the Associate in Applied Science degree (AAS) • Eligible to take NCLEX-RN to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  5. BSN Benefits Additional education beyond AAS provides: • Additional professional knowledge • Increased emphasis on community health and leadership • Credential desired by employers • Career advancement opportunities • Nursing leadership roles • Path to advanced practice roles

Concurrent Enrollment Program(CEP) • Modeled after partnership between University of Central Florida and Seminole State College • Initial partnership with NAU and MaricopaNursing • Pilot cohort started at GCC fall 2011 • Additional cohorts will begin at SCC, GWCC, and MCC in spring 2012 • Additional partnerships now being planned with University of Phoenix and Arizona State University

  7. What is the AAS/BSN Concurrent Program? Completion of pre-requisites, co-requisites and NUR330 + Concurrent enrollment in MaricopaNursing and NAU RN-BSN online courses + Completion of 10 additional NAU RN-BSN credits = AAS and BSN

The AAS is NOT Going Away! • The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree is still the primary program for MaricopaNursing • The CEP is an option for those who believe that the concurrent AAS/BSN program is for them - it is not for everyone • MaricopaNursing has excellent outcomes, exemplary graduates, and our AAS program remains a premier program

  9. Program Eligibility Admission Criteria: • Completion of all admission criteria for the MaricopaNursing pool • Nursing Program Admission test • Completion of all pre-requisite and co-requisite requirements for MaricopaNursing and NAU • GPA 3.0 for selected courses

  10. Required NAU CEP Pre-Requisites *Courses used to calculate GPA for CEP admission **Or meet MCCCD Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) certificate

Application Process • Only students in MaricopaNursing pool eligible to apply • Must attend Information Session • Applications accepted once/semester • Submit with application: • Copy of nursing school admission scores • Transcripts • Two letters of reference (from professors, administrators, employers, or professional colleagues)

  14. Student Selection • Competitive process • Applications accepted in February for fall 2012 admission and in June for spring 2013 admission • Students selected per scoring rubric by program admission criteria: • GPA • HESI A2 score • Completed courses • Letters of recommendation

  15. CEP Admission • All CEP applicants notified of: • Full admission • Provisional admission • Alternate status • Denial • Students not chosen for admission will not lose time/date stamp for MaricopaNursing pool • Students not chosen for CEP admission may reapply

Program Cost • Tuition*: • $2,485 MaricopaNursing • $9,800 NAU • $15,000 UOP • ASU- must be calculated online • Textbooks, course fees, and supplies are additional • Financial aid is available BUT is affected by many factors • Number of hours of undergraduate credit • Previous degree • Full-time/part-time status *Approximate tuition costs
