  1. Born to OvercomePart 2 JOHN 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

  2. HOW.CAN.I.OVERCOME 63-0825 140 He come and suffered, and took the hard, rugged route. He took the route of persecution. He took the route of death. Are we, this morning, willing to do, take that same route that He taken? Are we willing to die. Are we willing to give ourselves up to God, forfeit all the world and the things, to serve for Him? 141...Though Jesus was tempted, He overcome for us. He endured all temptations for me and for you. He could have took it right then. But what did he take the other route for? So that we could come, be with Him. And if He paid such a price as that, then how little would we be not to take it? When, remember, there's nothing here, anyhow.

  3. 360-3 CHURCH.AGE.BOOK A quick look at those Scriptures which involve the Lord Jesus overcoming will bring out the truth of this proposition. In Matthew 4, wherein Jesus is tempted of the devil, He overcame the personal temptations of Satan by the Word, and by the Word only. In each of the three major trials that corresponded exactly to the temptation of the Garden of Eden, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life, Jesus overcame by the Word. Eve fell to the personal temptation of Satan by failing to use the Word. Adam fell in direct disobedience to the Word. But Jesus overcame by the Word. And right now, let me say that this is the only way to be an overcomer, also it is the only way that you can know if you are overcoming, because that Word CAN'T fail.

  4. HOW.CAN.I.OVERCOME 63-0825 104 Look. Temptation was for Him. You know that? The Bible said, "He was tempted in all points like we are, yet without sin." He was tempted by--by drinking. He was tempted by women. He was tempted by everything that could be tempted by. He was tempted by everything that we are. He was a Man, and yet you couldn't put a mark on Him. Yes, sir.

  5. THE.DEITY.OF.JESUS.CHRIST 49-1225 60 ...God had to suffer temptation; He couldn't suffer temptation. He had to suffer sexual temptation. He had to suffer all kinds of temptation, to be tempted by the devil, in riches and powers and--and dominions, and so forth. He had to suffer all of that. In order to do it, He couldn't be as God in Spirit; He had to be God in flesh…...

  6. HEBREWS 2:14-18 14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

  7. HEBREWS 4:14 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

  8. 360-2 CHURCH.AGE.BOOK Now what are we to overcome? That is the normal question to ask here. But that is not the actual thought of this verse for it is not so much WHAT we are to overcome but HOW we are to overcome. Now this is logical, for does it matter much WHAT we are to overcome as long as we know HOW we can overcome?

  9. THE.LAODICEAN.CHURCH.AGE 60-1211 314 And they have been convinced that they need You, that they need sweetness of the Holy Spirit in their life to givethem overcoming power. And they will receive power from on high, receive the power to live a Christian life, to receive power to overcome temptation. As the song we was just singing, "They gathered in the upper room and was praying in His Name, they were baptized with the Holy Ghost and power for service came." That's what they want, power for service to come upon them.

  10. FROM.THAT.TIME 61-0520 80…Today we got the wrong conception of power. Power is overcoming, returning good for evil, that's real power. That can love your enemy, do good to those that do evil to you. That's real power; that's God power.Yes. Maniacs can break chains. But it takes a real man to return good for evil, from his heart, not because of religious duty, but from his heart.

  11. THE.FLASHING.RED 63-0623 65…………man today is like it was in the days of Noah, they bow to the shrine of pretty women. That's right. Oh, my! 66 How it must have been awful in that day, worship as they, females, flashing themself in such an attractive way. And if they were any better on doing it then, than they are now, I'm glad I didn't live then. Think of it, of how that they only... how that women has got to acting the same as they do now…….

  12. THE.GOD.OF.THIS.EVIL.AGE65-0801 118 Notice, "The sons of God saw the daughters of men," not daughters of God, "the daughters of men, that they were beautiful," and it caused the sons of God to fall into this delusion. "And took them kind of women and married them," and it brought a age of prostitution, just like it is today; like it was in Sodom, like it's predicted to be today. That, when men and women of this day swap wives. If they don't like this wife, they--they go over to Reno, Nevada, and get married; and, or get a divorce, that one, and marry again in fifteen minutes. And women so pretty that they're almost irresistible. And what is it? The devil! See Satan still in beauty?

  13. THE.INTER.VEIL 56-0121 28 …a man never knows what it is to live a victorious life, until he's completely overcome. Who? Himself? That's the biggest enemy you got is yourself. That's the reason you can't rise up in faith, because you got intellectuals there. You're intellectual part says, "Well, this, or that." It's a reasoning. We want to cast down reasonings, the Bible tells us.

  14. FORMER.AND.LATTER.RAIN 60-0303 33 …Jesus said Himself, "He that overcometh, I will give him the morning star." The Bible said that. What is it? A overcomer, one that's overcome the world, overcome self, overcome pride. "I'll make him the morning star.”

  15. HOW.CAN.I.OVERCOME 63-0825 72 The thing you have to overcome is yourself, your idea, your thing, and surrender yourself to Him. He overcome for you. He knows the way; we don't.

  16. A.HIDDEN.LIFE.IN.CHRIST55-1110 47 There's where the church is failing in one place: overcoming, overcoming temper, overcoming difference, overcoming churcfchprejudice, overcoming hatred. Many people tonight who shout and speak with tongues and run up-and-down the aisle, and hate their neigbor. That has... Brother, you're lost yet. That's hard to say, but that's the truth.

  17. HOW.CAN.I.OVERCOME 63-0825 105 Overcome means "to recognize the Devil in every one of his tricks." Lot of people says, "There is no Devil. It's just a thought." Don't you believe that. There's a real Devil. He's just as real as you are, anybody. A real Devil, and you must recognize him real. You must know he's a devil. Then, the same time that you--you recognize him, and know that he's a devil and he's against you, then, to overcome, you must recognize that the God in you is greater and mightier than he is, that the One that's in you has already overcome him. And, by His grace, you are more than a match for him. Amen. There's real overcoming, when you recognize.

  18. HOW.CAN.I.OVERCOME 63-0825 91 …each son out of each church age, overcome the temptation of that age…… 92 See, as I said at the beginning, you are born defeated. And that birth can never bring you to--to Life, because you're born defeated. And you're in a defeated world, amongst defeated people, amongst defeated creeds, defeated denominations. You've got to come to victory some way.

  19. 361-1 CHURCH.AGE.BOOK Remember we have shown clearly all through the ages that even as Adam and Eve fell because they left the Word, so the Ephesian Age fell by turning slightly from the Word, until with every age continuing to turn away, we have a final repudiation of the Word by the World Church system. This Laodicean Age ends in a blackout of the Word, thereby causing a departure of the Lord from the midst. He stands outside calling to His own who follow Him by obedience to the Word. After a short and powerful demonstration of the Spirit this little hunted and persecuted group will go to be with Jesus.

  20. 361-2 CHURCH.AGE.BOOK The Consummation of the Gentile Ages This age is the last of the seven church ages. What began in the first or Ephesian Age must and will come to full fruition and harvest in the last or Laodicean Age. The two vines will yield their final fruit. The two spirits will terminate their manifestation in each of their final destinations. The sowing, the watering, the growing is all over. Summer is ended. The sickle is now thrust into the harvest.

  21. I JOHN 2:14 14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. 15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

  22. 360-3 CHURCH.AGE.BOOK A quick look at those Scriptures which involve the Lord Jesus overcoming will bring out the truth of this proposition.

  23. MATTHEW 4:1 1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their

  24. hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;  9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

  25. 360-4 CHURCH.AGE.BOOK Now notice again how Jesus overcame the world systems of religion. When He was repeatedly badgered by the theologians of His day, He constantly applied the Word. He spake only what the Father gave Him to speak. There was not a time when the world was not utterly confused by His wisdom for it was the wisdom of God.

  26. In his own personal life, contending with Himself, He overcame by obedience to the Word of God. In Hebrews 5:7 it says, "Who in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto Him That was able to save Him from death and was heard in that He feared: Though He were a Son, Yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered; And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him." What was He obedient to? The Word of God.

  27. 360-6 CHURCH.AGE.BOOK Now then, there will not be one person who will sit in the throne of the Lord Jesus Christ unless he has been living that Word. Your prayers, your fastings, your repentances--no matter what you present to God--none of that will gain you the privilege of sitting in that throne. It will be granted only to the WORD Bride. As the throne of the king is shared with the queen because she is united to him, so only they who are of that Word even as He is of that Word will share that throne.

  28. 208-4 CHURCH.AGE.BOOK The Rewards Revelation 2:17. "He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it." Each message to each age holds out an incentive to the believer, encouraging him to be an overcomer and thereby be rewarded of the Lord…….

  29. GREATEST.BATTLE.EVER.FOUGHT 62-0311 48-3 How did Grant take Richmond? Just as he come to it. Amen. That's how he took Richmond. That's how God's soldiers take sin, sickness: just as they come to it. Amen. That's the way they overcome their doubts, and fears, and things. When one rises, they chop him down, move out of the way. Oh, my. That's it.
