  2. NOVO ACORDO ORTOGRÁFICO • O TREMA É ELIMINADO EM PALVARAS PORTUGUESAS OU APORTUGUESADAS: cinquenta, frequência, tranquilo, arguição, eloquência, consequência, pinguim, linguiça, aguentar, quinquênio.

  3. NOVO ACORDO ORTOGRÁFICO • NÃO SE ACENTUA O HIATO -OO DAS PALAVRAS: enjoo (subst. e forma verbal), voo (subst. e forma verbal), coroo, perdoo, coo, abençoo, povoo, moo.

  4. NOVO ACORDO ORTOGRÁFICO • NÃO SE ACENTUA O HIATO -EE DOS VERBOS CRER, DAR, LER E VER: creem, deem, leem, veem.Ex.: Os jovens creem num futuro promissor. Que eles deem o melhor de si. Os funcionários leem muito pouco. Os alunos veem o documentário.

  5. NOVO ACORDO ORTOGRÁFICO • NÃO SE ACENTUAM OS DITONGOS ABERTOS -EI E -OI NAS PALAVRAS PAROXÍTONAS: assembleia, plateia, ideia, colmeia, Coreia, boleia, hebreia, boia, jiboia,paranoia, apoio, heroico. Exceção: herói, constrói, dói, anéis, papéis, anzóis, chapéu, véu.

  6. NOVO ACORDO ORTOGRÁFICO • NÃO SE ACENTUAM AS PAROXÍTONAS HOMÓGRAFAS: para (verbo)/ para (prep.), pela (subst. e verbo), pelo (subst.), pera (subst.), polo (subst.). Exceção: pode (pres.) e pôde (pret. perf.) e por (prep.) e pôr (verbo). Ex.: Os alunos deverão passar por este caminho. Os gerentes deverão pôr os funcionários em suas respectivas funções.

  7. NOVO ACORDO ORTOGRÁFICO • Não se acentua o -u tônico nas formas verbais rizotônicas (acento na raiz), quando precedido de -g ou -q e seguido de -e ou -i (grupos que/qui e gue/gui): argui, apazigue, averigue, enxague, oblique.

  8. NOVO ACORDO ORTOGRÁFICO • Não se acentuam o -i e -u tônicos das palavras paroxítonas quando precedidas de ditongo: baiuca (taberna, botequim), boiuna (cobra lendária, sucuri), cheiinho, saiinha, feiura, feiume.

  9. NOVO ACORDO ORTOGRÁFICO • Emprega-se o hífen nos compostos em que o prefixo termina em vogal e o segundo elemento começa por vogal igual: anti- inflamatório, anti-imperialista, anti-ibérico, arqui-irmandade, micro-ondas, micro-ônibus, micro-orgânico.

  10. NOVO ACORDO ORTOGRÁFICO • Não se emprega o hífen em certos compostos em que se perdeu, em certa medida, a noção de composição: mandachuva, paraquedas, paralama, parabrisa, parachoque, paravento.

NOVO ACORDO ORTOGRÁFICO • Não se emprega o hífen nos compostos em que o prefixo termina em vogal e o segundo elemento começa por vogal diferente: autoafirmação, autoajuda, autoaprendizagem, autoescola, autoestrada, autoinstrução, contraexemplo, contraindicação, contraordem, extraescolar, extraoficial, infraestrutura, intrauterino, neoimperialista, semiaberto, semiautomático, semiárido, supraocular, ultraelevado.

  12. NOVO ACORDO ORTOGRÁFICO • Não se emprega o hífen nos compostos em que o prefixo termina em vogal e o segundo elemento começa por r ou s, devendo essas consoantes se duplicarem: antessala, antessacristia, autorretrato, antissocial, antirrugas, autorregulamentação, autossugestão, contrassenso, contrarregra, extrarregimento, ultrarromântico, ultrassonografia, semirreal, suprarrenal, suprassensível.
