The SLDS Program Vision FLDOE leads the nation in collecting, storing and disseminating actionable student-centric statewide longitudinal data via a comprehensive multi-faceted PK-20 Education Data Warehouse (EDW 2.0); Consistently meets information interests of public education stakeholders transparently with a selective set of data tools, analytics and easy access to key centrally-administered applications via a single gateway; and, Efficiently facilitates data-driven decisions with timely data to improve student learning and research toward closing achievement gaps.

The SLDS Program SLDS 09 (Round 3) • Data Governance (initial phase complete) • “A system of decision rights and accountabilities for information-related processes, executed according to agreed-upon models which describe who can take what actions with what information, and when, under what circumstances, using what methods”. – Data Governance Institute • Metadata Management Tool (Start: July 2011) • Implement a modern MDM tool to: • Track data managed by Data Governance • Maintain system’s metadata

  5. The SLDS Program SLDS 09 (Round 3) • Researcher’s Sandbox (Start: Spring 2010) • Provide approved data to researchers in a more efficient manner • Automated Approval Process (Start: Spring 2012) • Provide data more efficiently to external data requestors and FLDOE staff

The SLDS Program SLDS 09 ARRA (Round 4) • Upgrade PK-12, Florida Colleges and Workforce Education systems as part of EDW 2.0 (in progress) • Consolidated model for the 3 systems and the EDW 2.0 • Not your Dad’s EDW… • Pilot implementation only; Statewide implementation to follow • Statewide Unique Identifier (Start: July 2011) • Provide an identifier that is unique across the state and across time • Component to Teacher Student Data Link
