  2. Summary Cassia goes in search for Ky, because he had been taken away for being an aberration. Only, she finds out he has wandered into the treacherous canyons, called the Carving. Ky takes along a young boy named Ely, and a guy like him named Vick. Cassia goes after him with a girl named Indie, who she learns to trust. Cassia and Ky eventually run into each other in the vast space. Together, they travel to find the Rising, a legend which tells of people going against the evil society.
