  2. Presentation of ICAR-CNR • The Institute for High Performance Computing and Networking (ICAR) is part of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) • ICAR is spread over three sites in different regions: headquarters in Rende (CS) and two Units of Support in Naples and Palermo. • The business unit support (UOS) of Naples' ICAR conducts researches in techniques for representation and knowledge discovery, pervasive systems and mobile computing, systems for e-health, intelligent systems, advanced human computer interfaces. • Two main kinds of application: • Interoperable architectures for the Electronic Health Record (EHR) • Mobile patient monitoring

  3. Interoperablearchitectures for the EHR (1/2) • The problem: • Many local solution • Different technologies • Different standards • No integration and interoperability • The solution: • A technological infrastructure for the interoperability at a national level

  4. Interoperablearchitectures for the EHR – ICAR’sContribution (1/2) Definition of National Guidelines for the Technological Infrastructure for the EHR

  5. Interoperablearchitectures for the EHR – ICAR’sContribution (2/2) Piemonte Realization of a SOA prototype which is currently working in three different italian regions Calabria Campania

  6. Mobile patientmonitoring • The problem: • Short and long term vital signs monitoring of chronic patients • Open issues: intrusiveness, technological limits, reliability, interoperability and security

  7. Mobile patientmonitoring – ICAR’scontribution • Realization of several prototype systems that • acquire vital signs by means of a variety of sensors • process data by means of intelligent components • Mobile reasoners and DSSs
