Applying for TA -Application PERIOD-60 days prior to the start date of each course on the website: www.goarmyed.com; Quarter hours or clock hours will be adjusted to Semester Hours once change is made with the drop down option. School of Army Enter number of credits the class is. 987 School St Washington, DC 12345 Enter the cost per credit hour. *For schools that bill by the semester, take the tuition divided by the number of credits your are taking. Example: $3,204 per semester / 12 credits = $267 per credit hour www.school.edu 515-555-5555 School@school.edu If applicable, enter fees that are associated with class only. ENTRY HERE IS NOT NECESSARY!

  4. Clarification of Authorized Fees -Per policy clarification, only fees which are course specific can be authorized for TA money -Fees and Tuition and class start and end dates are verified by documents provided by student and uploaded into their e-file

  5. DEGREE PLANS: • Must include: school name, student name, student advisor name and contact information, level and name of degree being pursued, type of credits (SH, QH or Clock Hr), all required classes for that degree-completed and still required-as well as transfer credits including AARTS transcript information. • Cannot be editable when uploaded to e-file. DAR spreadsheets which are not website produced, ie Excel Worksheets, or 104-R for ROTC students, must be signed by the School Advisor and uploaded as a .pdf or .tif file, which is uneditable. • Only courses found on the degree plan can be approved and all Soldiers who have completed 9 or more SH credits are required to have them. • Future changes may require Degree Plans to be signed by school rep, even if produced by school website.

  6. DoD MOU • The website is: www.dodmou.com • Schools or students can search for participating schools through this website to confirm participation • According to the DOD, schools will have 60 days to sign up on the website, once the DoD MOU becomes affective. Schools who do not sign cannot receive Tuition Assistance money for their Soldier-students.

  7. Uploading documents into the GoArmyEd eFile Required: 1-Class schedule with start and end dates 2-Tuition and Fee statements which list each item separately 3-Annual SOU for those who have had an account for one year or more 4- Personalized, Documented Degree Plan.

  8. MAX CREDITS and 1st Professional Degrees • As of 1OCT12, the max credits allowable for TA are 139 at Undergrad level and 39 at the Grad level. - 1st Professional degrees which were not started prior to MAR 2012 will no longer be funded. Those currently pursuing their 1st Professional degree will no longer receive TA after MAR 2013.

  9. Generating a Tuition Assistance Approval Form Soldiers receive an e-mail with instructions when their TA request is approved or rejected. IMMEDIATE RESPONSE IS REQUIRED. If rejected, the soldier will need to fix the error and then change the TA request status back to “Pending”. Without returning the TA request back to pending, the TA request may not be reviewed a second time for approval. -- If approved, Soldiers are required to provide their TA Authorization forms to their school business office – FOR EACH APPROVAL RECEIVED.

  10. All information should be validated by the soldier. The soldier can either save this document to the desk top and email the form to the School’s Primary POC or print the form off and turn it into the Primary School POC.

  11. Invoicing and Grades • SCHOOLS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR: • Invoicing for each approved TA request • Updating grades within 45 days of the completion of the class NOTE: a HOLD will automatically be placed on the Soldier’s account if grade isn’t updated. • SOLDIERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHECKING ON THEIR TA STATUS IN GAE.
