  1. Yale's Public Health Coalition

  2. Our Mission The mission of the Public Health Coalition (PHC) is to promote public health through events and the interdisciplinary collaboration of its member groups. Public health events and activities will focus on increasing awareness, education and service in the Yale and New Haven communities. PHC builds awareness by publicizing opportunities and events through our weekly electronic newsletter, which reaches over one thousand Yale students and faculty. We educate students about public health issues through our weekly lunch series, Masters teas (in collaboration with the residential colleges), film screenings, and panel discussions. We increase the breadth and interdisciplinary nature of public health information on campus through our blog and advocacy campaigns. We actively engage our 50+ member groups in collaboration and provide publicity, speaker ideas, and financial support through our individual group liaisons, , our website’s master calendar, and a semesterly member conference to bring groups together. We promote health-related volunteer and service work in New Haven through our position as a network of Dwight Hall, our semesterly booklet of volunteer opportunities, participation in campus service initiatives and volunteer trips, including summer and Spring Break opportunities.

  3. Our Newsletter PHC's newsletter reaches over 500 undergraduate students, graduate students, and Yale faculty Sent weekly, the newsletter outlines upcoming events, possible jobs and internships, and other public health opportunities on campus.

  4. Semester Lunch Series Every Friday, PHC hosts a "Lunch Speaker Series." We invite Yale faculty and local public health researchers to speak about their involvement in public health and the community. The speakers address varied and diverse areas. The lunches are casual, promoting relationships between Yale students and faculty.

  5. Liaison Days In order to prepare for National Public Health in the spring, PHC hosts "Public Health Days" in the fall. This fall, we hosted a celebration of "Food Day" in October and "AIDS Day" in December

  7. Food Day Tour of New Haven's famous restaurant, Claire's Corner Copia, with chef and owner, Claire Criscuolo

  9. World AIDS Day Lunch with Professor Kaplan, founder of New Haven's Needle Exchange Program

  10. World AIDS Day Screening of Documentary "How to Survive a Plague" followed by a letter writing session to Congress. Over 100 letters were sent to Congress, requesting more funding for AIDS research and prevention campaigns. Students also decorated Cross Campus.
