  9. Status of Corps • Much less complaints this past season about referees • GameOfficials had a rough start • GOPay had a very rough start • New assignor, Mike, had a rough start • All have gotten better!

  11. Assigning • Still expecting Saturday games to be assigned by Tuesday • If you are not getting games, contact the assignor ASAP • No change in assignors or software

  12. Assigning • Continue assigning 3 games as preference • Never more than 4 games • Prefer full rotation (middle/line/line) for crew • Weeknight games

  13. Availability • Manage your availability • Block days/times as soon as you get soccer, football, band schedule • Update availability as soon as you know • Work with your assignor • Accept games or you will be removed from them

  14. 2015 Recertification • 2015 recertification is now open • No more “grandfathering” of old referee grades beginning January 2015 • Grade 9 can ONLY work single referee games • Grade 8 can ONLY work as referee or assistant referee up to and including U16

  15. 2015 Recertification • No more “grandfathering” of old referee grades beginning Spring 2015 • To work U17 or higher, including adult, you MUST be grade 7 • Must be grade 7 Distinguished to update to state grade 6 • Grade 5 is now National Candidate and approved by Chicago

  16. New Grade 7 • Anyone that is 16 years or older before Dec 31 should not register as a grade 8 for 2015 • Take online video and upgrade/register for 2015 as “new” grade 7 • No fitness or assessment requirements

  22. Game Sheets • At end of game, fill in score and your name and hand back to the coach • Reason is for coaches to phone scores in • If coach didn’t have sheet, just tell them the score

  23. Misconduct Reporting • Continue handing entire game sheet back to coaches, unless there is misconduct • Note the score on the tear off portion and hand that back to coaches

  24. Misconduct Reporting • Complete the misconduct report and put in bins at the field • Send offs require call, email or text to DoR and USSF supplemental report within 48 hours

  25. Concussions • Look for • Head to head collision • Head to body collision • Head to ground collision • Ball to head • Player holding their head • Player looking disoriented after anything to the head

  26. Concussions • Stop play immediately and bring coach on field • There will be trainers for most games at Chinn Chapel or Railroad • Player MUST leave field before play restarted • Referee will NOT prevent player from reentering game after play restarted • But can stop game again for symptoms and bring coach onto field to attend to player

  27. Deal With Coaches • You must engage and deal with coaches • Most times it is a simple word or request • Back up off line • No foul • Hold your subs • Get used to managing coaches so when you have to deal with coach misbehavior, it is easier

  28. Referee Abuse • All coach misbehavior needs to be dealt with • Talk to them or dismiss them • Coaches/parents that abuse referees shall not be tolerated
