What kind of educational degree do you have to have to become a Veterinarin • Veterinarians are healthcare workers specializing in care for non-human animals like pets, competition animals, laboratory animals and livestock. The education required for veterinarians includes undergraduate programs focusing on biology or pre-veterinary study, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM).

  3. Why Am I interested in Becoming a Veterinarian • I am interested in becoming a Veterinarian because, I like animals and I think that learning about animals will be fantasying. I can learn about how animals survive on their own and they get there food.

  4. Job Requirements • Veterinarians diagnose, treat, and control animal injuries and illnesses. They can be found in private veterinary offices, zoos, laboratories, and anywhere else animals are cared for or interact with humans. • The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates there were approximately 59,700 veterinarian positions in the United States in 2008. These jobs are expected to grow much faster than average between 2008 and 2018, with job prospects expected to be excellent for qualified applicants. The median salary for veterinarians in 2008 was about $79,000. In general, new veterinarians that dealt exclusively with small animals earned more about $65,000 a year than those who treated large animals and horses exclusively $58,000 and $41,000 respectively.

  5. What is the Length of Education Of a Veterinarian • Veterinarian are required to have completed forty(40) hours of continuing education acquired after October 15, 2007. Veterinary Licenses expire on October 15 of odd numbered years. The new renewal date is October 15, 2011. • Continuing education is not required for they year in which the initial veterinary license was issued. Therefore, a person who was issued an original veterinary between the date of October 15, 2009 and October 15, 2010 are only required to submit twenty (20)hours of continuing education.

The educational courses required beyond High School High school students planning to be veterinarians should take at least 3 years of math, including algebra and geometry, as well as trigonometry and calculus if possible. Upper-level math is required for admission to veterinary school, and with the emphasis these schools place on grades, any earlier experience is of benefit.

THE AVERAGE PAY OF A Veterinarin The money you can make as a vet depends on a variety of factors, including where you live and the specific field of practice.Generally a veterinarian earns a good income. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics says that the mean salary for a veterinarian is about $75,000. Median annual earnings of veterinary technologists and technicians were $22,950 in 2002. The middle 50 percent earned between $19,210 and $27,890. The bottom 10 percent earned less than $16,170, and the top 10 percent earned more than $33,750.Median annual earnings of veterinarians were $63,090 in 2002. The middle 50 percent earned between $49,050 and $85,770. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $38,000, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $123,370.
