  3. Please call Safe arrival at 444-5647 to report absences. Do not stop in the traffic circle – drop off zone is in front of Red wing playground. Listen to local media for school cancellations. Advise your teacher of your child’s medical alerts No peanut or other nut products are permitted at school. In an emergency, students evacuate to the VONM Athletic Park…do not drive to the school. Safety Safe School Week is in October

  4. Dogs must be leashed and muzzled, or Dogs remain secured in a vehicle New Maryland School Most dogs are well mannered and safe while at NMES with their owners. However, pets can be unpredictable and some students are intimidated by them. We appreciate your understanding in supporting the school policy. NMES focuses on an educational agenda. Invitations for private activities will not be distributed at school. A class Contact Listcan be distributed to all parents within each classroom (with individual parental permission) including student name, phone number and/or email address. Parents/students can use this list to contact friends privately (not at school) for personal invitations. Non-essential itemswill not be permitted at school. These include all items that are not required for regular school activities such as all toys, games, playthings (such as cards) or other valuables.If special activities are scheduled, that may include such items, students will be advised by their teachers.

  5. District 18 focus on Cyber Safe… Students know a lot about being “connected” Do you know what they know and see online? Help us to help them to be “cybersafe”

  6. Communications How? When? Why? Check NMES website Do you have issues or concerns…contact your teacher or school administration. Check you email for regular communications. Please request a meeting with your teacher…do not expect to talk with them during instructional time or immediately before or after classes.

You need a Criminal record check • Join Home & School (H&S) • Organizes Special events • Organizes fundraising • Join Parent School Support Committee (PSSC) • Works on a School improvement Plan (SIP) • District Education Council (DEC) • Works on a District improvement plan

  8. Thank you to our many Volunteers on PSSC • We can accept new members this year… • Submit nominations to the office. We need 4-5 new members in 2010-2011. PSSC meets about 6-7 times per year. Nominate a friend or volunteers. Members are elected or acclaimed.
