  2. Political Views • Caused Hatred amongst people. • a. Won him great popularity among the lower classes in Paris and the provinces. • b. The object of the particular fear and hatred to those who supported the moderate revolution that had produced the limited monarchy. • c. Authorities frequently tried to silence him, but he avoided arrest.

Role in Government • Marat was a radical journalist and politician during the French Revolution. • Marat was also a delegate to the national convention. • advocated reforms as graduated income tax, state-sponsored vocational training for workers, and shorter terms of military service. • Radical journalist and politician during the French Revolution. a. Journalism was renowned for its fiery character and uncompromising stance toward “ enemies of revolution” ad basic for the poorest members of society.
