  1. How to Install a Garage Door Two long, horizontal tracks carry the garage door install up into the open position. Each track has a 90-degree metal curve at one end. Using the wrench set, attach an angle bracket to the underside of each horizontal track near the curve to join it with the vertical track. The rear ends of the long horizontal tracks will momentarily hang freely; support them with step ladders underneath or by suspending them from the ceiling with wires or string. To install your new garage door, follow the instructions in the manufacturer’s manual. Before starting, make sure you have all the necessary tools and parts. It’s important to use a good impact driver and to predrill each lag screw. Also, don’t forget to install the weather stripping. Next, assemble the rail sections. Insert the untapered end of the first rail section into the untapered end of the second one. Then, slip the idler pulley over the rail and connect the chain or belt to it. When installing a garage door, be sure to use the correct tools and follow all instructions. If you are not an expert, it is best to hire a professional. The wrong installation can lead to injuries and expensive damage. Embossed wood-grain fiberglass panels give the appearance of genuine wood, with less maintenance. This collection also offers insulated garage doors with polyurethane or polystyrene insulation for improved energy efficiency. In fact, Remodeling magazine reports homeowners to recoup about 85% of their investment in the cost of their new garage door when they choose an insulated model.
