WAL-MART WORKFORCE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT RESEARCH PROJECT In Partnership with AACC and Regional Groups Focus on Continuing Education for Health Occupations Three key research questions: • What are the current and future needs for professional continuing education for rural health care workforce in Siskiyou County and other rural communities? • What gaps exist in CE programs for rural health professionals? • What types of health education and consumer information would be of most value to residents of Siskiyou County?

  12. WAL-MART WORKFORCE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT RESEARCH PROJECT Major Conclusions In Partnership with AACC and Regional Groups Focus on Continuing Education for Health Occupations • Become a “local trusted source” for healthcare information.

  15. WAL-MART WORKFORCE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT RESEARCH PROJECT Major Conclusions In Partnership with AACC and Regional Groups Focus on Continuing Education for Health Occupations • Develop a community health resource Web portal in cooperation with other providers in the county.

WAL-MART WORKFORCE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT RESEARCH PROJECT Major Conclusions In Partnership with AACC and Regional Groups Focus on Continuing Education for Health Occupations • Support regional and local efforts to expand broadband and Internet access and promote videoconferencing using the state-of-the-art system at College of the Siskiyous.

WAL-MART WORKFORCE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT RESEARCH PROJECT Major Conclusions In Partnership with AACC and Regional Groups Focus on Continuing Education for Health Occupations • Leverage existing investments and partnerships in health information technology to expand locally available HIT training opportunities for two key audiences: new HIT workers and existing healthcare workers who require HIT training.

WAL-MART WORKFORCE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT RESEARCH PROJECT Major Conclusions In Partnership with AACC and Regional Groups Focus on Continuing Education for Health Occupations • Create synergy between community health education efforts and professional education programs in order to improve community health.

WAL-MART WORKFORCE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT RESEARCH PROJECT Major Conclusions In Partnership with AACC and Regional Groups Focus on Continuing Education for Health Occupations • Leverage the convergence of Siskiyou County’s natural beauty and abundance of alternative and complementary health providers to develop wilderness medicine and holistic healing seminars designed to attract out-of-town students.
