  4. The word Abacus is derived from the Greek word ‘abax’ which means ‘tabular form. It was said to be invented in ancient Babylon between 300 to 500 bc. Abacus was the first counting machine "abax"

  7. The earliest known calculating device is probably the abacus. It dates back at least to 1100 BCE and is still in use today, particularly in Asia. Now, it typically consists of a rectangular frame with thin parallel rods strung with beads.
