First of all, understand that tears are an important part of our eyes. Tears help keep our eyes healthy by eliminating all the waste and debris, and keeping them clean. Our tears consist of three main layers that create the tear film – a watery layer, an oil layer, and a mucous layer. Any irregularity or insufficiency in one or more of these layers may cause dry eye. You need a specialist who can thoroughly examine your tear film, identify what is wrong with it, and then customize a dry eye treatment in Andheri West for you. 2. Eye drops – The doctor may prescribe you eye drops that can lubricate your eyes artificially to help maintain the moisture levels. You could take up an artificial tear eye drop of any brand from the market without a prescription, or you could ask the doctor to prescribe you one that will best suit your eyes and condition. There is another set of eye drops available, which are known as preservative-free eye drops, especially designed for those who have sensitive eyes that may be vulnerable to the preservatives in general artificial tears eye drops. Depending upon your eyes, your condition, and the type of drops you choose, you can instill them from every two hours every day to twice a day, or even several times an hour! The best way is to approach an eye specialist and ask him to prescribe you the right drops with the right dosage. Surgery – Tears are formed and drained continuously within our eyes. They are made internally, and drain out through a small channel in the nose. If this channel is permanently or temporarily closed, it can help conserve your own tears, and make artificial tears last longer. For this, you will need a professional and experienced ophthalmologist. Prevention – We all know that prevention is better than cure. So, before you even have a Dry eye condition, it is always better to keep your eyes prevented against dryness. There are a variety of ways to do this. For example, you can use a humidifier during winters within your home, or a pan of water on the radiator, to add moisture to the dry air. You must use wrap-around glasses whenever you go out in the dry and windy climate. Also, you can ass omega-3 fatty acids into your diet by consuming oily fish, flex seeds, or oral supplements.
