  2. Where do you go when you don’t know? • The library is a place where you can go to learn about yourself and the world around you. With so many books to choose, how do you know where to look? Quit

  3. Dewey Decimal System • A man named Dewey, who once worked in a library, created a system of numbers to put books in order so you can easily find them. It’s called the Dewey Decimal System. Quit

  4. Call Numbers 000’s 100’s 200’s 300’s 400’s 500’s 600’s 700’s 800’s 900’s 538 621 775 • Dewey grouped books into ten areas by subject. Each subject has secret codes or “call numbers” for finding books. You can find a book from its call number. For example, you can find a book with a call number of 538 in the 500’s area. Quit

Science Man learns about the air, land, and sea, and wild animals. • The 500’s books describe nature and anything that happens by itself--rocks, trees, weather, oceans, rivers, wild animals, plants, space, moon, stars, sun, math, and time.   17. 600’s – How can I use what I know about nature? Applied Science and Useful Arts The cave man used what he learned about fire to make tools. He learned about plants to create food, medicine, etc... • The 600’s have books using nature to create things to make the world a better place. The 600’s have things from the 500’s that man made to work for him, such as cars, boats, planes, cookbooks, computers, pets, farm animals, and medicine. Quit

Some people read, dance, listen to music, go to the movies, drawing, tell jokes, and play sports. What do you do when you have free time? Quit
