What are dreams? • In 1838 a German dream study was done to 3000 people: • 96% saw more visual than audio • 2/3 did not think in dreams • 2/3 more complicated than simple • 93% were active participants
Phases of sleep • Waking frequency: Beta. • Body relaxes into light sleep state: Alpha • Brainwaves slow to a more relaxed state theta: R.E.M. occurs. • Brainwaves slow down even more into the state of light sleep. • The “dead sleep” also known as delta , you experience a deep dreamless sleep. • These phases repeat 4 to 5 times every 90 minutes
