Bio-Rad: Making early HIV detection possible

Download the BioPlex® 2200 HIV Ag-Ab Assay Poster from http://bit.ly/1GAocSh<br>The BioPlex® 2200 HIV Ag-Ab assay is a 5th generation HIV diagnostic test that not only detects but also differentiates between HIV-1 antibodies (groups M & O), HIV-2 antibodies and HIV-1 p24 antigen, enabling the detection of acute HIV infection sooner in serum or plasma samples. It is not intended for screening blood or plasma donors. Early detection saves lives by getting information to the patient sooner, thus potentially limiting the spread of the disease. 1. Taking HIV Testing Taking HIV Testing to a New Level to a New Level Download Poster Bio-Rad is pleased to introduce the BioPlex® 2200 HIV Ag-Ab assay, the first 5th generation diagnostic test for HIV infection. What differentiates 5th generation from 4th generation? The ability to differentiate HIV-1 antibodies, HIV-2 antibodies and HIV-1 p24 antigen The ability to differentiate acute from established HIV infection By allowing simultaneous detection and differentiation of the three markers, the BioPlex® 2200 HIV Ag-Ab assay delivers more information to healthcare providers. The BioPlex® 2200 HIV Ag-Ab assay offers additional benefits to laboratories, including long specimen stability, lab and workflow consolidation, and quality assurance. Confident results can guide supplemental testing. The BioPlex® 2200 HIV Ag-Ab assay is a multiplex flow immunoassay intended for the simultaneous qualitative detection and differentiation of the three individual analytes in a single reaction. The indications for use include pediatrics two years or older and pregnant women. It can be used for testing plasma samples from solid organ donors or for testing serum or plasma from living subjects. It is not intended for routine use in screening blood or plasma donors. WARNING: FDA has approved this test for use with serum and plasma specimens only. Use of this test kit with specimens other than those specifically approved for use with this test kit may result in inaccurate test results. This test is not intended for use in children younger than 2 years of age.

  2. A European study published in peer-reviewed Journal of Clinical Microbiology* reports an excellent performance with high sensitivity and high specificity. The BioPlex® 2200 HIV Ag-Ab assay is considered a new generation of test due to its HIV differentiation capability. With the enhanced capability of the BioPlex® 2200 5th generation HIV assay, results can be used to help navigate through the latest CDC HIV testing algorithm, enabling earlier detection of acute HIV infection. Backed by cutting-edge multiplex technology and proven clinical performance, laboratories can be confident in their HIV testing results. By quickly identifying an important puzzle piece, the BioPlex® 2200 HIV Ag-Ab assay detects, differentiates and gives a full picture of the type and extent of the disease. Early detection can guide supplemental testing for infected patients to seek treatment, as well as enable outreach to others who may have been infected, thus reducing further transmissions. Early detection saves lives. Bio-Rad – Your authority in HIV testing.
