She began working in a farmers market at the young age of 15 while also attending school for tourism. After school, her passion for travel and food brought her around the world where she discovered the eclectic flavor profiles that influence her unique jams.
During her travels to Asia, she learned how different types of food affect your body and health and how to eat with a purpose.
For this reason, Melissa's creations are all natural, preservatives free, gluten free and she offers many vegan options.
When Melissa arrived in the US and began making her own jams and spreads for her friends, they couldn't get enough !
She knew that she wanted to share her passion with a wider audience.
Because Melissa's recipes are influenced by her travels, the flavors are wildly different than the standard jams you will find in your local grocery store. They are named for the cities that inspired them. They range from a sweet, tropical pineapple coconut to a spicy pear habanero to a savory jalapeños bell pepper.
All ingredients are locally sourced and freshly made. Flavors change with the season and availability so you can always expect something new. With the success of her jams, Melissa decided to branch out into others spreads and authentic Mexican salsa.

Every Sunday Meli Gusto has a booth at the Siesta Key Farmers Market located on the beautiful barrier island of Siesta Key, Florida. The market hours are 9am to 1pm at 5104 Ocean Blvd in the Village of Siesta Key, Florida.
