  1. The availability of high-tech medical laser equipment has simplified many procedures. No longer do you need to worry about waiting for hours to complete a process as simple as tattoo removal. Laser equipment is now capable of performing these tasks quickly and effectively. While there are many other uses and applications, laser equipment is commonly used today for tattoo removal, hair removal, acne removal, and cellulite removal. Let's find out more about it.

  2. Showing-off a tattoo is now a trend amongst the youngsters. As per statistics, more than 30 percent of US population have got at least one tattoo done. While, it is an awesome thing to have tattoos planted on your body, it is also essential to remove the tattoo. There are many medical reasons why you should remove a tattoo on time. Nowadays, it has become very convenient and simple to remove tattoos with so many advanced technologies and equipment unlike a few years back. By using medical laser equipment, the specialist will separate the pigment colors. If the tattoo is black, you are sure to get better results than color tattoo because black absorbs multiple laser wavelengths. For color tattoo removal, you will need more than one sitting and the number of sittings depends on the laser and medical equipment used. There are also other factors affecting the time taken which are discussed below – Having tattoo is a long process. Removal is a longer process and sometimes people get worried about the prolonged process to fully remove the tattoo from the body. Time taken to remove the tattoo is one of the major deciding factors for a person to go for removal. There may be a business meeting and you may want to get your tattoo removed, or you may be going for a formal function, before which you want your tattoo to vanish. Whatever be the reason, it is good to set the expectations before committing to get the removal done. The time taken varies from person to person, some people may get quicker results because their body may be able to wipe out the ink faster from the skin. For some others, it may even take up to one year.

  3. Skin Tone The next factor is your skin tone and based on that you may have to wait for at least 6 weeks between each session to give to the body for healing. The healing process depends on how your body responds to the session and how strong your immune system is. For people with darker complexion, the healing may take up to eight weeks. You have to be patient and wait for the stipulated time to be over before going to the next session. Going early will not help with the removal process, rather it can damage the skin beyond repair. The risk of side effects is already getting lesser due to the use of exclusively designed medical laser equipment, however that is only to some extent and the rest depends on how your body, particularly the skin type and immune system react to it. It is only wise to wait for at least three months between each session. Laser Hair Removal Just like tattoo removal, laser hair removal is a common procedure today made simpler with the help of laser equipment. It is a safe and painless process, and depending on the type of your hair, you can get rid of them in a few months for good.

  4. Laser can be used to remove hair from any part of the body, even the sensitive ones like face or the bikini line. Other areas are face, arms, legs, thighs, under arms, eyebrows, upper lip and so on. These treatments were initially costly and hence people were apprehensive but with new advances in technology, it is now affordable for many people. Laser treatment is the safest of all other hair removal treatments and when done at a certified clinic, there are no side effects or discomforts during the procedure or afterwards. Laser treatment offers the following benefits:  Accurate – With laser, the target dark, coarse hair alone can be selected, and there is no effect whatsoever on rest of the skin.  Speed – Laser pulse takes only a flash of a second to treat the hair and can treat multiple hair at any given time. Laser can easily treat an area a size of a quarter in one second. Areas like upper lip and other similar ones can be treated in less than a minute, whereas the large ones can be done in about one hour.  Definitive – On an average, most patients experience permanent hair loss after three to seven sittings.

  5. Right before the procedure, the hair that you want removed will be trimmed to few millimetres above the surface of the skin. The laser equipment will be customized to suit your skin and hair color, thickness of hair and location of the hair being treated. As it is a laser light, your eyes will need to be protected. For this, you need to wear the necessary eye protection. The technician will wear one too. A cold gel or special cooking device will be applied to safeguard the outer layers of your skin. The technician will first check for any reactions, by beaming pulse of light on a particular area and then wait and watch for a few minutes for any reactions or any changes to be done in the settings. After the procedure is complete, you will be given ice-packs, anti- inflammatory lotions and creams, or just cold water to soothe any different sensation, itching or discomfort. You can schedule next appointment upon discussion with your technician. Ideally, it should be after 4-6 weeks. The treatment will continue till the hair growth stops completely.

  6.  Yet another popular procedure, acne removal with laser equipment can keep you from dealing with annoying breakouts. Resurfacing helps your skin look younger, fresh and healthier especially if you are ageing, have acnes or blotches, scars, patches, lines and so on.  Skin resurfacing through laser meticulously removes skin layer by layer. During healing, new skin cells form that are tighter, firm and give you a younger look. You can choose to do only resurfacing or combine it with other face related cosmetic surgeries at the same time.  To prevent bacterial and antiviral infections (cold sores, fever blisters etc…), your doctor may prescribe you some antibiotic medicines after going through your complete history.

  7. Laser resurfacing is done by a certified and trained plastic surgeon or dermatologist. You don’t have to get admitted in the hospital. Most likely, you will have to sit for a few hours in one sitting depending on how much area of your face needs to be covered. Treatment of only parts of your face need less than an hour but full-face treatment can take minimum two hours. For full face treatment, general anesthesia is given while if only parts of the face are treated, a local anesthetic is sufficient. After the procedure, the doctor will seal the treated areas. After a day, you should thoroughly clean the affected areas at least 4-5 times a day and apply the prescribed ointment (petroleum jelly) to prevent scabs. You will see swelling on the face after the process which is absolutely normal. If there is swelling around the eyes, the doctor may give you some steroids. You can also sleep on an extra pillow to help reduce the swelling.

  8. You would also feel discomfort, itching or stinging from 12 to 72 hours after the resurfacing. After a week or so, your skin will become dry and start peeling off. Depending on the areas treated, the healing can take from 10-21 days. There could be some redness immediately after healing, which will subside usually in 2-3 months. The new skin will be lighter and you will need extra care to protect it and maintain the same. Use as ‘broad-spectrum’ sunscreen, which filters UV A and B rays to protect your skin during the initial days after surgery. Choose the sunscreen carefully and go for the one that is specially made to be applied on face with a minimum of 7 percent zinc oxide content and SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 30 and above. Avoid going out in the sun especially between 10am and 2pm when the rays are at peak. If you do have to go out, wear appropriate protective clothing like full sleeved shirts, pants, scarf, hat. Carry an umbrella to prevent sunrays from directly falling on you. The new skin tends to dry easily if not cared for. Keep it well moisturized. Check with your doctor on when you can use Retin A or glycolic acid products. Most of the times, you can use it after 6 weeks.

  9. It may not be as popular as acne removal or hair removal, laser cellulite removal is gaining popularity for sure. Cellulite is a fat that resides just below the surface of skin. Women are the most affected by cellulite and try out various treatment options. There are plenty of creams and lotions available which are used along with therapies. Here are a few treatments along with some evidence that they may work - Carboxytherapy This medical process is simple and carbon dioxide gas is inserted beneath the skin. The patient might feel some discomfort or even temporary bruising due to carboxytherapy. Studies show that this treatment worked on many women and they see less cellulite after the surgery was performed. About 10 women underwent 8 treatments to see the results. It may or may not always work though. Creams and lotions Some creams and lotions do show positive results in reducing cellulite. To get the best and continued results, you should apply the cream every day. Products that contain caffeine can dehydrate cells and make cellulite less likely. A product having 0.3% of retinol can have considerable effect on cellulite. Few women are said to have seen less cellulite after using it. Retinol helps thicken the skin, making the cellulite less visible. You have to apply the product at least for 6 months or more to see some positive and visible results. Diet and exercise can help reduce cellulite but not necessarily and not always. It is always safer to get it reduced by a certified practitioner to give you the perfect and fit appearance.

  10. Laser cellulite removal is painless, light and non-invasive procedure. There is no surgery or needle involved. When you go to a practitioner, he will evaluate the areas that need treatment, calibrate the laser settings and ensure the right treatment for your body. The procedure is conducted gently by using a handpiece that contains the laser beam and a vacuum to suction your skin and remove the cellulite. The heat from laser beam melts the fat cells, which drain out naturally from the body. The practitioner gently rolls the handpiece along the target areas to tighten the skin and reduce the fat. Few main advantages of laser cellulite removal are: › Safe removal of cellulite › Non-invasive and painless procedure › Results for lifetime › Smooth and firm skin after the treatment The most common areas that are treated with laser cellulite removal are the abdomen, love-handles, buttocks, posterior thigh, thigh and hips, anterior thigh, upper arm and neck. Depending on the amount of cellulite to be removed, your number of sittings may vary. Each session is about half an hour (25-30 minutes). There is no healing time required after the treatment as this is a non-invasive process. You can return back to your usual activities as soon as you are done with the session. So, whether you're interested in hair removal or you're worried about your cellulite or painful acne breakouts, talk to a certified practitioner to help resolve these issues with the help of sophisticated laser equipment.
