3. ABOUTUNIVERSITY Earlier known as Govind Guru Tribal University (GGTU) is a public state university. The university is almost 3 decades old and is presently headed by chancellor Draupadi Murmu and VC Mukul Narayan Deo. The university is located on the urban patch of Hazaribagh. Moreover, the university has approval from UGC. The university also prides itself on a good alumni base. 5. HISTORY Govind Guru Tribal University was established in the year 1992 in Bihar by minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. From 1992 to 2000 the university was under the Bihar Government’s jurisdiction. However, in 2000 a new state Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar which led to the formation of the university. The university was established in Hazaribagh. It was the people of Hazaribagh who felt the need for a University. The Ranchi University is more than 100 km away therefore the need was real. Thus in 1990, the Bihar State Assembly approved the bill of setting up a university at Hazirabh.

The library also has reading spaces available. Laboratories The labs of the university houses required sophisticated equipment. The labs are well managed and maintained.
