Circa Design A Design Oriented Online Magazine Visit Us At : Circa Design
INTRODUCTION TO CIRCA DESIGN As our name suggests we are a design oriented online magazine, like so many others out there, we comb through the vast expanse of the internet in an effort to bring you ideas that comment and to post about the latest and greatest happenings in the design world. makes us particularly unique, but we like to think that we remain unbiased in our opinions since we do not accept sponsored content advertorial type arrangements. So, why should you bother visiting, short and sweet articles, wide selection of photos and relevant commentary. We took a very long break as a publication, but are back again. Still sticking with the general format that we however, a couple of things have changed. We are on wordpress now, using a wordpress URL, it’s a good platform and it allows us to do what we want to do, granted not as much flexibility in design, for the actual look of our site, but we’re okay with that. Second, with our “re-launch” we’re focusing a lot more of our attention on issues. Tough one to do since design very often has not been environmentally word, luxury has been bandied about too much decade(s), luxury environment rarely coexist. We’ll try to fix that by showcasing good design that’s good for the planet too. started on, we love to None of this any type or of other environmental friendly. The The format of our site follows the basic “blog” concept familiar to us all, but we also have what we think are reasonably good and growing, resource pages that are worth going through if you’re looking for a little direction on Architects, Interior Designers and more recently resources. the and past the Environmental Circa Design Net Find Us On Facebook and Twitter
LOOK INSIDE Pretty easy to figure out what our Look Inside category is all about. What’s on the inside? What design and style goes in to creating the interior spaces of apartments or homes that we inhabit. Here you’re going to find posts on Kitchens and Bathrooms,Bedrooms and Living Rooms, all of the usual. We don’t sway towards any one particular style, equally giving weight between modern or colonial, country homes or apartments in the city. No big deal. Generally speaking we scour all sorts of sites and references which we try to link to as best as possible, although we’re not always reliable since we go by photos. Take everything we say with a grain of salt, we’re doing our best.We do occasionally give a shout out to specific interior designers if we get the chance.
LOOK OUTSIDE Our Look Outside section is the natural and obvious extension of our Look Inside section. Look out includes all sorts of spaces, outdoor Kitchens and BBQs, Gardens, Pools, Patios, Pergolas and so much more. Looking to jazz up your outside living spaces, whether that be sweeping gardens and luxurious pools or simple outdoor urban decks and a balcony,we’ve probably got some good ideas for you here.
ARCHITECTURE One of our personal favorite sections is architecture, it kind of gives everyone an excuse to think a little outside the box. We’re not just talking about lived in spaces, and segmented rooms, we’re talking about the constructions themselves, the buildings, the homes, great architects and great ideas, regardless of where they come from, Modern, Post Modern, Country Houses, Skyscrapers. We’re good with anywhere our fancy might take us. We have thrown in and will continue to showcase a number of architecture and design competitions,we feel this is important and worthwhile, young artists, designers and architects need help getting their ideas out there so why not write about ideas that may never come to fruition, but nonetheless are pretty great.
GREEN LIVING Green Living is our latest section, kind of the one that got us back in to updating our website. The past 100 years we’ve made a really big mess of the planet, granted there’s been a whole lot we’ve accomplished in that time, higher standards of living, for most people, health, technology. Everything that makes our society spin. But with all of these advances we’ve mostly relegated the environment to second class citizenry. Growth at all costs. We tend to believe in science, and also happen to see the effects that climate change has had on our environments locally. We fully understand that climate change is real. We need to spend the next 25 plus years cleaning up the mess that we’ve made. Our small effort is to showcase environmental projects and ideas that can make a difference. Design, where it might help. Generally speaking, Solar and other renewable energy technologies aren’t all that interesting design-wise. Pretty standard stuff. But there are some interesting ideas coming in the form of building integrated solar PV, this is where solar is purposefully built in to a structure. As the hyperlink suggests,we do have a tag for it and will post whatever we might find to be relevant.
