  1. Dental Implants What is a Dental Implant?

  2. What is a Dental Implant? An implant is an artificial root made of titanium that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or a bridge. The implant acts as an anchor to hold the replacement tooth in place. Dental implants consist of three components. The implant, the abutment and the crown. The implant is a screw that is inserted into the jawbone. The abutment connects the implant to the crown. The crown is the visible portion of the implant, resembling your natural tooth.

  4. Procedure of Dental Implants A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jawbone to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants require a surgical procedure in which an opening is made in your jawbone to hold the dental implant. The implant, which looks like a screw, is placed in your jaws and allowed to settle down with the bone for two to six months. Finally, the “crown”, which looks like a natural tooth will be attached to the implant with the help of a structurally supportive structure known as an abutment.
