Weight Loss Surgery The idea of having a surgery to help reduce weight holds a lot of appeal for people suffering from obesity and surgery has often worked out where other conservative techniques of weight loss like exercise and diets have failed. Weight Loss Surgery is the preferred method for weight loss for people who are overweight (BMI 23-27 kg.m2) or having class 1 obesity (BMI 27 -32 kg/m2). Its aims at modest weight reduction of 5-10% of body weight within 6 months. No doctor will usually suggest weight loss surgery as the first option. If he or she does, then it should ring alarm bells. If you have a BMI more than or equal to 35 with obesity-related conditions, you can be a candidate for weight loss surgery. http://www.dioms.in/

Sleeve Gastrectomy Sleeve gastrectomy is basically a restrictive bariatric surgery which decreases the size of the stomach. Earlier this surgery was regarded as the first stage procedure of the more complicated operation known as bilio pancreatic diversion. However, the excellent weight loss seen after this surgery together with the technical simplicity has made it the most popular bariatric operation of recent times. The operation removes around 80% of the stomach using a specialized laparoscopic stapling gun. This staples the stomach on both sides and cuts in between which makes the procedure fast and bloodless. The volume of the stomach is reduced from initial 2000 cc to only 150 -200 cc. This markedly reduces the amount of food that can be consumed at one sitting. http://www.dioms.in/
Surgery for Diabetes Type 2 diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease mainly caused by resistance of insulin in the target organs as a consequence of increased fat. This insulin resistance initially causes the pancreas to secrete more of the hormone to maintain blood sugar levels within the normal range. However, later in the course of the disease, there is exhaustion of the gland giving rise to insulin deficiency. Bariatric surgery not only helps in weight loss but it also leads to remission of diabetes in the majority of people. The different bariatric surgical procedures by reducing the body weight lead to decrease in insulin demand. The malabsorptive procedures cause undigested nutrients to come into direct contact with the small intestine. This causes rise in the levels of certain gut hormones known as incretions such as GLP-1. These hormones in turn stimulate insulin secretion from the pancreas. Increased insulin also up regulates the metabolism and causes more stored fat to be utilized for energy. As a consequence, weight loss is accelerated and it leads to diabetes remission. http://www.dioms.in/
