Our health is affected by large number of factors such as environment, presence or absence of a support network, place where we live, our finances and our lifestyle.

Health and Wellbeing General Health and Wellbeing Being healthy and keeping well focuses on several factors such as what we eat and whether we eat well, physical activity, sleep pattern, and lifestyle such as unhealthy eating and drinking habits. Here is a list of activities that are important for one’s overall health and well-being. Eat Well A healthy diet is highly essential to help us feel good and stay healthy. Eating well has a positive benefit on our energy levels, memory, concentration and mood. Physical Activity Regular physical activity and exercises are necessary to promote good health and wellbeing. Any exercise which allows sufficient movement of our body and makes our heart racing is beneficial for your body unless you suffer with a disease which may worsen with particular types of exercises. You should ask your doctor for an exercise plan in case you suspect any harm to your body due to some types of exercises. Some simple physical activities include cycling or walking in a large ground on a routine basis. There are a number of apps available these days which can help you track your fitness and steps on a regular basis and also provide dietary advices.

  2. You can also join a sport club or any fitness center near your home or office. Fitness clubs is a great place which helps in exercising your brain and the body, learning new abilities, enhancing your leadership skills and also helps in making new friends who share similar interests. Physical activity on a regular basis is the key to keeping away many diseases. Here is a list of diseases that are most common in case you want to check out quickly. Sleep better Sleep plays an essential role in daily functioning. It also affects physical and mental health of an individual. Good sleep can also improve mental performance, decrease anxiety, and improve mood and energy levels of an individual. If you face any sleep-related problem, you can try certain sleep tips to help improve your sleep. A number of apps are easily available, which assist in improving your sleep, such as Recharge. Alcohol and drugs If you observe that you have started drinking or using drugs, which has affected your health, studies or relationships or if you require a substance in order to function and cope with your daily routine activities, it is usually an emergency situation. Such a situation requires immediate medical consultation and treatment. You can try the following steps to cope with alcohol and drug addiction: You should focus on things which are important for you, such as your family, partner, studies, or health.

Ask the person’s opinion about your changing behavior and attitude towards life. Introspect yourself if there are certain things which are preventing you to change. Think about your past attempts when you tried to change your habits. What attempts worked and which did not? You can also take help from certain organizations such as Alcohol Drug Information Service and Family Drug Support (FDS). Relationships Humans require relationships to create a life which is rich, meaningful and rewarding. There exists no such thing as a perfect relationship. We tend to perform better when we accept that there will be challenges in our relationships or try to handle stress in these situations in the best possible manner we can and take necessary actions to make our relationships healthier. Model of Health and Wellbeing The Alliance for Healthier Communities has developed an evidence-based Model of Health and Wellbeing (MHWB) which directs delivery of primary health care. The Model Defines Health as Follows: “A state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity are defined as health.” Like the WHO, the goal of the Alliance for Healthier Communities is to achieve better health for each and every individual. To achieve this goal,

Guiding Principles When a centre or healthcare organization adopts the health and wellbeing model, it entrusts on the following guiding principles: Highest Quality, People- and Community-Centred Primary Health Care There is a commitment to unremitting improvement in the quality of services and programs, with efforts leaning towards meeting specific needs of people and communities being served by the organization. Health Equity and Social Justice They design services and programs which help reduce health disparities and inequities around the world. They also advocate for healthier public policy and take necessary steps against unfair practices and prejudices that can harm a person’s health. Community Vitality and Belonging They partner with various community members to construct safe and caring communities where each individual is valued and has a feeling of oneness.
