  1. Introduction • Effective allocation of Time taking it to the micro level is required for cracking an entrance examination like UPSC. The success rate of the IAS is the most dismal of all the competitive exams. Survey reveals that seven out of every 10 successful candidates require at least 3 attempts to clear the onerous examination. The civil services exam has among the lowest success rates among competitive examinations. While the IIT's and IIM's having rigorous selection criteria still enjoy about 15-16% success rate, IAS has a success rate of less than 5%. The reasons for such a dismal success rate in the UPSC examination is owing to the following factors: • Lack of Time management during exam • Underestimating the magnitude of the Preliminary Exam • Lack of Practice • Fear of the Exam • Lack of Revision
