  2. There are three stages of the exam: 1. Prelims 2. Mains 3. Interview Each stage requires different strategy to prepare STAGES

  3. Stage 1 – PRELIMS(Qualifying Exam) • Preliminary exam is to test the width of knowledge of a candidate • Strategy should be for clearing the cutoffs. • CSAT paper can be helpful for candidates. • Time bound practice for CSAT paper is a must.

  4. General studies (GS) paper need widening of scope of knowledge of the candidate. • For current affairs read newspaper regularly and practice it. • Join a good test series for your regular practice and gaining more knowledge. • There are number of good institutes for IAS coaching classes in Delhi, and in other cities of India. • Candidate will get more exposer and regular knowledge by joining good coaching center.

  5. Stage 2 – MAINS(Subjective Exam) • Mains exam is to test the depth of candidate knowledge. • Complete change in the perspective from prelims. • Mains preparation starts with the choice of subjects. • Optional Subjects are Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Law, History, Geography, Political Science, etc.

Candidate need to develop the habit of extensive reading. • Essential to have a good knowledge of current affairs. • Practice writing the answers. • Should keep a track of word limit. • Step ahead from learning mode to analysis mode. • Candidate should apply the knowledge that acquires during course of preparation.

  7. Stage 3 – INTERVIEW(Qualifying Exam) • It is the time candidates get to face the interview panel. • Student should know about the panel borad and its members. • Be confident and honest while facing the board. • Daily newspaper reading is must.

  8. Mock interview practice helps here a lot. • Highlight your key strengths whether its a hobbies or some achievements during school/college time.
