  1. Math 3H Warmup: What do you know about writing absolute value functions as piecewise-defined functions? • You go from one equation to the other where the graph reflects over the x-axis • The domain for each section of the piecewise is determined by where the interior function changes sign • When the function inside the absolute value produces negative answers, you write the ‘opposite equation’ in for that part of the domain of the piecewise function • The reflection about the x-axis occurs graphically when the output values of the linear function within the absolute value is negative

  2. Homework Check: p. 21-22 SG#1-15

  3. M3U1D4 Reflections of a Bike Lover Objective: Relate the domain of a function to its graph and, where applicable, to the quantitative relationship it describes. Question: What connections exist between the graph of an absolute value function and its corresponding piecewise-defined function?

  4. Lesson 5 Page 25

  5. How do you graph an absolute value function? How do you change it into a piecewise-defined function?

  6. Classwork: p. 25-26 #1-12 Homework: p. 28 S #4-7 all p. 29 G #8-12 all
