Summary of Book 3. Aeneas continues his story to Dido. As he leaves Troy, he encounters such wonders as Polydorus, Apollo, and the island of Crete. Here Aeneas begins to build a city, but is warned by the Gods to sail elsewhere. They arrive at Strophades and are then cursed by the Harpies. Aenas then meets Andromache and Helenus as king of Buthrotum. Aeneas pilots his fleet south of Sicily to witness a Greek soldier and his tale of Ulysses and a local cyclops. They flee, continuing their journey1140

    2. Summary of Book 3 Aeneas continues his story to Dido. As he leaves Troy, he encounters such wonders as Polydorus, Apollo, and the island of Crete. Here Aeneas begins to build a city, but is warned by the Gods to sail elsewhere. They arrive at Strophades and are then cursed by the Harpies. Aenas then meets Andromache and Helenus as king of Buthrotum. Aeneas pilots his fleet south of Sicily to witness a Greek soldier and his tale of Ulysses and a local cyclops. They flee, continuing their journey as Aeneas is finally faced with the death of his father Anchises.

Soul turns into a tree which bleeds as Aeneas picks at it. Killed by Thracian king. Apollo: God of light and music. Instructs Aeneas to return to ancestral land. Helenus: Son of Priam and king of Greek city. Once captured by Pyrrhus, he rules his kingdom after his death. Andromache: Hectors widow. She now tells Aeneas that he must now travel to Italy. Greek Solider: Served under Ulysses. Tells Aeneas his tale of escaping Cyclops Anchises: Father of Aeneas. Advises Aeneas to head to Crete instead of Italy. Dies at the end of the book.
