Project 2 – Collage • Choose 2 characters that we have already met. • Make a collage out of things that you find or have at home. • Be sure and consider their “personality.” • Search “collage artwork” for examples
Project 3 – The 5 Ws Poster “Know” Your Novel (Knowledge) Create and illustrate your own “5 Ws” poster. Divide into five sections (who, what, when, where, and why) Illustrate each word with a scene from the book and write a sentence for each picture to explain it’s connection to the “W”
Project 4 – Mapping Egypt • Make a map of Egypt (April, Melanie, Elizabeth, and Marshall’s Egypt) • Objects to Place in Egypt: • The Temple: lean-to-shed • Birdbath altar for Nefertiti • Bust of Nefertiti (placed in the birdbath at center of temple) • Pillars (appeared to be supporting roof of temple) • Statue of Diana the Huntress (at entrance of temple) • Weeds in the yard (the Professor’s yard) • Crocodile Stone • High fence around yard • Thistle blossoms: “The Sacred Flower of Egypt” (placed at front of birdbath) Use map-making skills: include a compass rose, map key, etc.
Project 5 – Hieroglyph Name • Choose an Egyptian god or name, or use your own name. • Draw symbol(s) to represent the name you have chosen. • Color and decorate your hieroglyph symbol.
