  1. Procedure to Compact or Compress Outlook PST File Size If a PST file of any format, i.e. ANSI or Unicode, reaches its maximum size or exceeds the size limit. There are chances for fair corruption. For this you need to compress Outlook PST file by reducing its file size. Compress Outlook PST file in MS Outlook 2007 1 Run MS Outlook on your system. 2 Click on the “File” tab > “Data File Management”. 3 4 In the Account Settings window click on “Data Files” tab then select the PST file you want to compact. Then click on “Settings”. Simply click on “Compact Now” button. 5 6 Outlook will start compacting your PST file. Once the file is compact click on “OK” and then Close. Using MS Outlook 2010 Run MS Outlook program on your system. Click on File tab > Info > Account Settings > again Account Settings. In the Account Settings window > “Data Files” tab. Choose the pst file you want to compact and click on “Settings” button. Now click on “Compact Now” button. Outlook starts compacting your .pst file. Click on “OK” and then Close.
