Family Constellations • Living models within our family that affect deeper forces such as our thoughts, behaviour, and emotional experiences, can be considered as a family constellation process. • Definition of aconstellation • A constellation is a combination of elements i.e., objects, ideas, characteristics or feelings that can be related in some manner. A problem may arise due to the relationship between different elements of the system. The problem could be associated with any system whether it is an individual, family or an organization. Constellations are used to provide healing of self, family andancestors. • Definition of asystem • A system can be defined as a structure that consists of purposeful, independent and interrelated elements. These elements maintain homeostasis by influencing each other to maintainsteady-state. • Definition of afamily • A family is defined as different elements working together within an umbrella of values that involve parents, siblings and relatives. • Definition of a familyconstellation • Family constellationsare the foundation on which a person’s life, beliefs and values may be based. The underlying dynamics could be the cause of a hindrance or even the root cause of the problem. Family constellations therapyprovides insight into hidden dynamics which can lead to closure and solutions to the problem currently beingfaced. • A family constellation is able to create an opportunity to remove hurdles from the life of an individual. Working on ourweaknesses • Definition of systematicconstellations • A systematic constellation is defined as a constellation that deals with the underlying elements that could be the cause of a problem. • Definition of constellation facilitators • Constellation facilitators believe that every one of us is surrounded by an “energy field” that has information regarding imbalances and unresolved issues. They have the knowledge to fix issues within ourselves, family and even ourancestors. • Entanglements are incidents of the past that the individual is entwined to and therefore feels the fate or another as his/her own. Constellation facilitators also assist in making corrections to these“entanglements.” • Constellation facilitators are now calling this work "Systemic Constellations." It can be applied to different types of large and small systems. Constellations can be created for trauma, dreams, illness andmore. • Bert Hellinger developed “constellations” that discloses the hidden elements and dynamics behind the sufferings that result from loss, grief, tragedy orviolence. • Hellinger believes that each constellation (which could be created for a tribe or even a nation) has an existential conscience and can auto-correct itself overtime.
