Below is the question and our response. Question: Have small approx. 400 gallon pond a lot of green algae and just pure nasty. I need something that will cure this and not be toxic to goldfish or dogs as I’m always catching them drinking from the pond. Can you help me? CV, Whitesburg, TN Answer: GreenClean Granular Algaecide is a contact option designed for algae control without harming goldfish. Your 400 gallon pond would require ½ cup of GreenClean per treatment. Repeat treatment may be needed to make good contact with all the algae. When applied according to label directions, GreenClean will not harm animals, including dogs. AquaClear Liquid is a natural, beneficial bacteria that will not kill algae but will strip nutrients from the pond that algae thrive on. By reducing the nutrient level the amount of new growth should be significantly reduced. A 400 gallon pond would require 1 Tablespoon of AquaClear Liquid per treatment. Repeat treatment weekly until desired water quality is achieved. AquaClear Liquid will not harm fish or animals. Please feel free to e-mail me or post questions you may have and I will respond accordingly.
