What is Credit Information Companies(CIC) A Credit Information Company (CIC) is an organization which collects and analyses financial data of individuals and companies (loans, credit cards and other related data) and generates its products and services on the basis of this data. This data is provided to CICsby their member banks and other financialinstitutions.

How many credit information companies are there inIndia? • There are 4 credit information companiesin India including CRIF HighMark. • CRIF High Mark is India's first full-service credit information bureau which comprehensively covers credit information for all borrower segments – MSME and Commercial borrowers, Retail consumers and Microfinance borrowers – across the vast expanses (whether urban or rural areas) of ourcountry. • CRIF Highmark is one of the four RBI authorizedcredit bureausin India which provide personal credit score and business credit score. You can download your credit report and find outyour credit score. By law, you are entitled to afreecreditreportfrom all the fourcredit information companiesat least once ayear.

  3. What is a CRIF credit information report(CIR)? A credit reportrepresents a comprehensive credit profile of a borrower. This includes, for example, personal information (e.g. borrowers name, ID number, date of birth etc.) and a credit summary (e.g. credit accounts held by borrower, whether accounts are current/past due, and a record of recent credit enquiries made about theborrower).

  4. What is a CRIF CreditScore? It is a three- digit number which gives a bank or a lender a sense of your creditworthiness i.e. whether you have been repaying your dues regularly ornot. If the credit scoreis good, then thelender understands that you have used loans or credit cards in the past and have repaid all the dues properly and regularly. This makes lender comfortable to approve your current application for a loan or creditcard. CRIF credit scoregenerally ranges between 300–900. 300 is the lowest score indicating poor credit score and 900 is the highest score possible. A score above 700 is generally consideredgood.
