  2. Building a winning team involves • A coaching staff who will not settle for anything less than winning. • A team that is willing to work hard. • A strategy that the team is capable of carrying out. • Matching players with compatible positions. • An attitude that expects to win.

  3. Key 1: Sow and Reap • Matthew 13: 53-58 The people in Nazareth walked by sight, not by faith. What impact did that have on Christ’s harvest there? • To be outreachers who win, we must sow with faith, expecting the Lord to reap a mighty Kingdom harvest. • GROW stands for GodRewardsOurWork when we are focused on His Kingdom.

  4. Key 2: Involve Every Member • As childcare workers • As letter writers • As telephone callers • As prayer partners • As crisis ministers • As soul-winners • As Sunday School recruiters • As Church Member enlisters • As absentee cultivators

  5. Key 3: Plan to Fit Busy Schedules • Four teams rotate responsibility for outreach. • Each team prioritizes its week. • G team serves the first week of the month. • R team serves the second week of the month. • O team serves the third week of the month. • W team serves the fourth week of the month. • Allteams are invited to assist on fifth weeks of the month. • All workers learn to depend upon the principle of divine appointments, otherwise known as spiritually teachable moments in life.

Key 4: Adopt a Kingdom of God Outlook in all Ministries • A believer’s purpose is to change unbelievers into fully devoted followers of Christ. • Your church and each member of it must “Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness,” if you hope to become all God wants you to be in your community. • Every ministry has the same purpose as its individual believer/priests have.

  7. Key 5: Develop and Maintain Prospect and Attendance Records • Each small group has a list of both members and prospects related to it. • Each list includes contact information such as phone numbers, current address, email address, gender, actual or approximate age, relationship to church and to other church members or prospects. • East list shows current attendance patterns.

  8. Key 6: Records are used for Kingdom of God Purposes • Each record represents a person for whom Jesus died. • Each prospect or member recorded becomes the ministry responsibility of one or more small groups in your church. • Intentional ministry plans related to the needs of prospects and members form the practical means of fulfilling responsibilities.

  9. Key 7: GROW Focus Times are When You Act Responsibly • You participate in all four training sessions. • You prioritize the time on your schedule. • You arrive on time and ready spiritually. • You implement plans your pastor or other GROW leaders ask you to carry out. • You conduct yourself in a way that reflects well on the Kingdom and your church. • You share the results with other workers. • You suggest appropriate follow up actions.

  10. Key 8: Develop a Pattern for Weekly GROW Times • The pastor or other GROW administrators will develop assignments for each team. • Team members sign in and indicate which area of outreach they are available to do. • The pastor greets everyone and leads in making the assignments for the team members. • The next 50-60 minutes is devoted to the actual outreach actions themselves. • Team members give short reports on the results of their actions during a celebration time.

  11. Key 9: Stick to a Schedule • Seek to keep the length of the entire evening under 90 minutes if possible. • 7:00 – 7:15 Assignments • 7:15 – 8:15 Ministry Actions • 8:15 – 8:30 Sharing reports • Start reports at 8:15 and conclude at 8:30 even if some teams are still on the field visiting.

  12. Key 10: Support and Expand the Outreach and Ministry Team • Recruit team captains. • Involve youth by making them responsible for a particular night. • Involve children by encouraging them to send cards or to telephone children who are prospects or absentees. • Provide childcare during GROW nights and include the workers as members of the outreach team. • Plan GROW appreciation banquets. • Commission teams in a public worship service.
