The STAAR assessments mark a significant shift from TAKS, emphasizing college and career readiness. The Readiness Standards encompass 30-40% of eligible TEKS and will comprise 60-65% of the assessment, targeting essential knowledge for success in future grades. Supporting Standards will make up 35-40% of the assessment and include additional TEKS. Minimum scores are required for graduation, with multiple retake opportunities for students who do not meet standards. This transition enhances accountability and prepares students for post-secondary education.
