Remdesivir – A New “Standard Of Care” Against COVID 19

Remdesivir is a broad-spectrum antiviral drug developed by American biopharmaceutical giant Gilead Sciences. Remdesivir was developed for the treatment of Hepatitis C. Eventually, in the past this drug has been effectively used for the treat SARS coronavirus and MERS coronavirus, and now researchers around the globe are hopeful that this drug stands strong against COVID 19 as well.

  2. Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, announced in an unpublished from a phase 3 trial that showed Remdesivir shortened the time to recovery for patients with COVID-19 from 15 days to 11 days. <number>

  3. He added he believed Gilead Science’s investigational antiviral “will be the standard of care” for the novel disease. Generally, Remdesivir is a broad-spectrum antiviral drug developed by American biopharmaceutical giant Gilead Sciences. <number>
