Geography, Land, and Climate • Kenya bordered by Ethiopia to the north, Somalia to the east, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west and Sudan to the north west. • The costal region is largely humid and wet • The low Plateau is the driest part of Kenya • The temperature varies from 9 -29 degrees Fahrenheit to 77-81 degrees Fahrenheit

  6. Historical Facts • In 9147 a Kenyan terrorist groups called mau mau formed and where at war with the brits at 1952. At 1953 the mau mau leader was sent to jail for nine years.

  7. Cultures • People/Languages • There are about 40 African tribes. • The largest tribe is the Kikuyu • Some others are the Lyo, the Luhya, Karenina and the Masai • There are seventy different languages spoken in Kenya but Swahlili and English are most official

  12. Natural Resources • In Kenya there is no valuable minerals very few industries and no oil • there are some food processing factories and textile plants

Economy/Government • After independence, Kenya promoted rapid economic growth through public investment, encouragement of smallholder agricultural production, and incentives for private (often foreign) industrial investment. Gross domestic product (GDP) grew at an annual average of 6.6% from 1963 to 1973. Agricultural production grew by 4.7% annually during the same period, stimulated by redistributing estates, diffusing new crop strains, and opening new areas to cultivation. Kenya is the largest exporter of tea in the world (2005)1.
