CSSTEAP was formally established on 1st November 1995 at New Delhi. • The Centre’s Headquarters are located in Dehradun. • Educational programmes are conducted at campuses in Ahmedabad and Dehradun. • Cooperation Agreement with United Nations was signed in May 1996. • CSSTEAP is administered by a Governing Board consisting of representatives from the 14 member countries of Asia-Pacific region and the United Nations 6

INTERNATIONAL LINKAGES • UN-OOSA, Vienna, UN-ESCAP, Bangkok, UNESCO, Delhi • ICIMOD, Nepal, COSTED, NAM S&T Centre • GDTA-CNES, ISU, France • ICS-UNIDO, TWAS, Italy • ITC, The Netherlands In 2001 a workshop was organized by UN-OOSA in Frascati, Italy, to review the curricula of the Regional Centres for Space Science and Technology Education.

  7. The core educational programme of CSSTEAP consists of M.Tech programmes (9 months PG course plus 1 year research project) in: • Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (RS & GIS) • Satellite Meteorology & Global Climate (SATMET) • Satellite Communications and Global Positioning Systems (SATCOM) • Space and Atmospheric Sciences (Space Science)

Management and Mitigation of Natural Disasters - spatial information: RS & GIS - natural resources & environment: RS & GIS - weather-related disasters (cyclones, drought, floods): SATMET - communication & navigation: SATCOM - climate change, e.g., sea-level rise and threats to food security: Space Science

  10. In addition to PG/M.Tech. Courses, CSSTEAP also conducts short term courses/ Workshops in areas of RS & GIS, SATCOM, SATMET and Space Science disciplines at regular intervals in all the host institutions.
