Relief Web: http://www.reliefweb.int * Accessible from the UN Home Page by selecting Humanitarian Affairs and then ReliefWeb - The premier online source of information on natural disasters and complex emergencies worldwide- Site updated around the clock from over 500 sources worldwide- Full text database which includes documents on Appeals and Contributions, Early Warning Alerts, Field Reports, Press Releases, etc.- Includes maps of countries where an emergency exists and also general maps Example:For an overview of the most recent documents on any country, select By Country from the list of options on the left-hand side.

  4. Relief Web Example continued The documents appear in reverse date order, i.e. the latest are shown first. To view the full text of the first item click on the date in the left-hand column.

  5. Relief Web Document Example Documents can be e-mailed to colleagues worldwide by clicking on the envelope logo at the top right-hand side of this page.

  6. Relief Web Example continued At this point, the documents may be organised in other ways, for example, By Month, By Source, By Format. To view an alphabetical listing of all the organisations contributing reports on Iraq, select By Source. The documents highlighted in red are primary sources while the documents highlighted in black are secondary sources (Media an news agencies).

Relief Web Example continued Clicking on the triangle to the left of the organisation’s name will expand the information shown, allowing the searcher to retrieve press releases, reports, etc, written by a specific organisation. For example, click on the triangle next to AlertNet to view the documents they have submitted on Iraq.

  10. Relief Web Example continued Return to the country page and select By Format to view the different types of reports available on Iraq. Click on the triangle next to Analysis to view the titles in this section.
