  2. 4 Security Steps to Take Prior to An Event

  3. In today’s date, organizing an event for high profile guests is not an easy task. With the increasing terrorism, it is important to take all the possible steps regarding the event security. Which means that only appointing a few armed security guards wouldn’t be enough. In this article, 10 key steps have been discussed to make sure that your guests are protected at the highest possible level.

  4. 1. Keep Your Calm and Assess Your Guest List • The very first and the most essential step is that you should keep your cool. If you remain calm, you will be able to think strategically. Providing security does not mean that you should create a panic amongst your guests by all the security measures you have taken. • Assess the profile of your guests. If it is just a cocktail party or a prom night, then all you need is a few guards and some other surveillance would be enough. However, if you are organizing an event where some very high profile people like a well-known celebrity or maybe the governor is invited then you need to have the top notch event security but even that doesn’t mean sealing all the entrances. The biggest precaution that you can take is not revealing the event location publicly.

  5. 2. Screening Security Firm’s Back Ground • Perform a thorough research on the background of the security firm that you are going to appoint. It is essential that you appoint a well trained and organized security company who are well prepared to meet the challenges. Don’t hesitate to a ask questions and clear your doubts. Listed below is the checklist to go through before hiring a security provider for your event. • Demand to see the certifications of its personnel • Request references. Talk to former clients of the security company for similar events. • Find out what kind of events the security company has been hired for prior to yours. • Find out about the legal standings of the company. • Ask the company how will they secure the premises. Will there be an advance inspection?

  6. 3. Strong Security Budget There should be no compromise in the budget where the event security is concerned whether it is a low-key affair or celebrity studded event. You should hire a security firm before planning anything else. A good security firm would require enough time for thorough inspection of the event premises and plan accordingly. They would need to be ready with their arms and other tools such as metal detectors, trained dogs to sniff out the bombs, CCTV cameras, etc

  7. 4. Coordination Meeting It is important that you and event planner should have a coordination meeting with the security company’s representatives. Depending on the occasion and the guest list, only the security representative would be able to tell you what things you should keep in mind while planning the party. For instance, if you are holding a political event at an open location, it will require a larger number of armed guards and other security measures to monitor suspicious activity in the neighborhood. On the other hand, the ball-room event may only require a few security guards with metal detectors and correctly placed security cameras. • Overall, the security should be low-key and it should be there to keep away the threatening elements and not the guests. However, some additional steps that you can take are: • Let the security company to exercise complete control. After all, they are the experts. • Choose a suitable location with minimum security threats. • Prepare your guests, but don’t panic them. • Be prepared for the unfortunate. Have Plan B ready, in case something unfortunate happens even after all the security
