Currently, the stages are divided into three which are prelims, mains, and interview examination. The notifica- tion for the CGPSC Mains exam had been released by the official exam conducting authorities. The Prelims for CGPSC SSE exam took place on February 12th. The details of which had been released along with the official notifi- cation of the CGPSC exam 2020. The online registration process for CGPSC Recruitment State Service Exam Main Exam commenced from June 27, 2020, onwards. The State Service Exam is executed in three phases- prelims, mains exam, and interview round. Through the CGPSC State Service Exam, the commission has concluded to recruit candidates in 242 vacancies available in different posts. While preparing for the examination the students have to make sure that they are fully familiar with the CGPSC se- lection process 2020. In this article, we will be covering the selection process of the CGPSC State Service Exam- Pre- lims, Mains, and Interview. CGPSC Selection Process 2020 The CGPSC selection process consists of 3 stages- Prelims, Mains, and interviews. All three stages are the deciding factor of the qualification of a candidate in the CGPSC exam 2020. The Prelims is qualifying in nature whereas the Mains and the Interview are comprehensive and extensive. Candidates must clear all the stages of the CGPSC exam 2020 to be eligible for recruitment. The candidates must note that a specific cutoff is specified by CGPSC for all the stages on the basis of which the candidates are shortlisted. For the benefit of candidates, the selection process of CGPSC is explained in a simple yet detailed manner here. CGPSC Selection Process 2020- Prelims The stage 1 selection process of CGPSC is shortlisting the candidates on the basis of his/ her marks in the Prelims exam. There are two papers in the prelims round- Paper I(General Studies) and Paper-II(Aptitude test). oBoth the papers will be objective type papers oThe mode of both the papers is offline oThe total time allotted for each paper is 2 hours oEach paper is for 200 marks oThere are a total of 100 questions in each paper oThere are 2 marks for every right answer oThere are 1/3 negative marks for every wrong answer. 2

  3.  U s e f u l L i n k s Note: The minimum cutoff for the Prelims exam is 33% for General Category and 23% for Reserved and OBC. How- ever, the marks scored by the candidates only in Paper I of Prelims exam shall be considered for preparing the merit list of Mains exam. CGPSC Selection Process 2020- Mains The stage 2 selection process of CGPSC is shortlisting the candidates on the basis of his/ her marks in the Mains exam. oThe Mains exam will be conventional in nature. oCGPSC Mains consists of 7 papers- 1.Language 2.Essay 3.History, Constitution and Public Administration 4.Science, Technology, and Environment 5.Economics and Geography 6.Mathematics and Logical Ability 7.Philosophy and Sociology oEach paper carries 200 marks oThe time given for each paper is 3 hours. oAll the papers except for the Language paper can be answered in either Hindi or English as selected by the candidate. oIn the Essay paper, candidates are expected to write 2 essays, one on a National level problem and other related to the state of Chhattisgarh. oThe combined score of candidates in all the seven papers of CGPSC shall be considered for preparing the merit list for Personality Test or Interview. oThe cutoff for the Mains exam shall be decided by CGPSC on a later date.   4.  U s e f u l L i n k s CGPSC Selection Process 2020- Interview The stage 3 selection process of CGPSC is Personality Test and Interview. Based on the performance in the interview, the final selection list will be prepared. The Interview is conducted for 150 marks. Candidates who feature in the final merit list of CGPSC are eligible for recruitment. The candidates will be selected for various posts as per the prefer- ences he/ she filled while submitting the online application form. The candidates who qualify for the mains examina- tion, are invited for a personality test which is the interview, and is of 150 marks. The personality test judges the can- didate’s mental awareness, clear and logical analysis, critical powers of assimilation, variety, and depth of interest, the balance of judgment, the proficiency for social cohesion and leadership, and intellectual and moral integrity. The final merit list of recommended candidates will be based on the total marks obtained in the Mains Exam and the Interview.
