  1. 23.05.2018 Semalt: Adding Alt Text To Your SEO Campaign Image optimization and on-page SEO are two main steps of an effective SEO campaign, and you know the design of your SEO campaign will determine your site's search engine ranking. Images play a major role in what makes the designs work. In some circumstances, a subscriber will not see the pictures in your SEO campaigns properly as you've not used an alt text. Here, Ross Barber, the Semalt Customer Success Manager, will teach you how to add the alt text to your SEO campaigns so that your subscribers have a superb experience. About Alt Text: Alt text (alternative text) is a comprehensive description of the picture in your campaign. It is displayed when your subscribers cannot access the images properly. Alt text or alt tags help your subscribers to know the value of your images and the nature of your content. Plus, alt texts are an integral part of non-decorative images. You should not use the alt tags or alt text in decorative pictures. It may seem unimportant, but the alt text plays a vital role in engaging your subscribers when they cannot see the images, so you should conclude it in all SEO campaigns. 2. 23.05.2018 Alt text is very important for people who are using screen readers, so you should not ignore it and consider the alt text a major practice for email accessibility. With no alt text, the screen readers will inform your subscribers that an image is present there, but he/she has no way to ?nd out the information your image provides. Alt Text and Image Display: If your pictures don't show up in a subscriber's inbox, his/her email client might be blocking the images. For security reasons, various email clients turn off or block the images permanently. Your subscribers will have to turn on the image display, and if they have blocked the pictures, they will only see your alt text. Tips for an Effective Alt Text: Here are some tips to help you write proper alt text. 1. Keep it Short: 1. Keep it Short: You should always keep your alt text short and easy to read so that your subscribers can easily move on to the other messages. Try to write only two sentences as an alt text. 2. Use Proper Punctuations: 2. Use Proper Punctuations: A screen reader uses punctuations to understand where to pause when reading the content, so you should use proper punctuations in your alt text. 3. Avoid Using Quotes: 3. Avoid Using Quotes: The alt text that you add to the raw HTML section of your campaigns uses quotation marks for identifying where the actual text starts and ends. It's important to avoid using quotes as additional quotation marks can break the HTML. 4. Repeat Text that is appeared in Pictures: 4. Repeat Text that is appeared in Pictures: You should always keep the information in the primary text of your message, and it should not be written in your pictures.
