  8. Serve as a Role Model • Leave a positive impression of the Beef Industry! • Dress appropriately • Maintain a positive attitude • Be enthusiastic • Answer questions and promote industry news

  9. Dress for Success • Wear appropriate clothing for the situation. • Examples include; • Suits for interviews • Clean jeans and a nice collared, button shirt for the fair • Skirt, dress, or dress pants for store promotions and parades

DO Wear make-up (appropriately) Prepare an interview outfit to wear continually Watch local news anchors to see how they dress or wear their hair DON’T Wear hats * Wear T-shirts with slogans or messages * Wear a lot of jewelry Wear trendy clothing that may be inappropriate Fashion Tips * Unless Appropriate

  11. REMEMBER: • You are not only representing your county as Beef Queen but also the Beef Industry • Set a good example • Serve as a role model • And leave a positive impression of the Beef Industry • Please Dress Appropriately!

  13. When Speaking about the Beef Industry • Be credible • Use body language • Change your voice tones • Use visuals while presenting

  14. Credibility • Positive attitude and self-confidence • Be prepared • Never lie or make-up an answer • Don’t get defensive • Avoid technical jargon

  15. Body Language • Examples of body language includes; • Smile • Eye contact • Stand straight/don’t slouch • Don’t sway when stationary • Practice, Practice, Practice

  16. Voice • Be enthusiastic • Speak clearly, confidently, and distinctly • Keep answers short and concise • Pace your speed • Emphasize key words • Change voice pitch to make comments more interesting

  17. DO: Be prepared Show you care Tell what you’re doing right State your position clearly Tell anecdotes and analogies Tell how to getmore information DON’T: Be negative or defensive Use scientific terms Use complicated explanations Helpful Tips...

  18. Visuals • Pick appropriate visuals for different situations • Store Promotions: • Cooking and nutrition pamphlets and beef samples • Working with kids: • Have a baby calf to pet, or examples of beef by-products • Banquets: • Pamphlets, backdrop, scrapbook, and beef samples
