  1. 3 Key Social Media Tips That Can Help Small Business Owners by Kimberly Jean Fricke & Kim Fricke All things social media come a little easier for big businesses, right? Sure they have to continue to fine tune the engine, but it's not so difficult to get the ball rolling. The more popular a brand, the easier social media becomes. As a growing small business, you're trying to get everything in full swing. Here are 3 tips that can help you when it comes to social networking and your customer base. There are an increasing amount of social networks out there these days. Which ones you use and focus on more often depends on the type of business you own and of course your customer base. Think about demographics and where you're going to find the consumers that are going to interact with your business. For example, why focus the majority of the money earmarked for advertising on Facebook when most of your customers are using Snapchat? You have to find what works and continue to grow the social presence for your business from there. It's certainly not just about allocating money for advertising. It's about creating posts, engaging with consumers and making the most of social media. This type of engagement is what can really help ramp up sales for you. Once you get a good base of customers interacting with you, others are going to take notice, too. That said, you need to be consistent yet innovative at the same time. One way to do that is to always look for new opportunities, but be sure to hone the voice of your brand. You know you have a target audience, and as you discover more about what they want, keep dishing it to them. It was mentioned that it's important to be consistent. That not only goes for your tone but for your posting schedule, too. It is really important not to skip beats when it comes to social media. People will take notice, and you are going to lose their attention. You want to keep the interest of your audience, and that requires that you post consistently. Give them all kinds of reasons to keep coming back for more. They need incentives of different kinds. Once you start dishing them out, they're going to remember that's how you do business online. They will keep coming back to see what you have to offer. You might want to hold a monthly contest. Businesses with multiple products might put one on sale each month, too.

  2. There are all kinds of ways to grab the attention of your customers. Once you have their attention, social sharing can help you get your brand in front of people who don't yet do business with you. I want to leave you with one more tip, too. Take note of what your competition is doing. That can give you ideas and motivate you to do better. You have to stay ahead of the game here, and to do that as a business, you need your social media accounts working for you, pushing your profits in the right direction.
