Salt Spray Surf School was established in 2003 by local surf legend Bevan (Beaver) Porter and his partner Yvonne.   2. Surf School Learning to surf the waves is truly an exhilarating experience and there is no better place to learn than the soft sands of OhopeBeach. Everything is supplied from soft top surfboards, wetsuits, rash vests and sunscreen. When you have finished you’ll have gained a certificate and surfing knowledge to help you on your new surfing journey.

Ever since then, when the Salt Spray Gazebo was set up on the Beachside at West End, Ohope Beach, Salt Spray has brought Surf Stoke into the lives of countless amounts of grommets, young and old!We operate out of the West End corner of the famous Ohope Beach. The Pohutukawa covered rocky point gives us a sheltered patch of ocean. The sheltered corner combined with the soft sand and shallow waters create gentle waves that, big or small, are easy to master the art of surfing on while still providing a thrill every time you stand up.

  4. Your New Surfing Journey. Everything is supplied from soft top surfboards, wetsuits, rash vests and sunscreen. When you have finished you’ll have gained a certificate and surfing knowledge to help you on your new surfing journey.

  5. Kids Holiday Program A fun filled day of Surfing, Games and Ocean Education!Our Holiday Programs run in between term 3 & 4, the week before Christmas and sometimes in April (Water temperature dependent)They are a full day of Surfing, Ocean education and heaps of extra beach based fun!
