  1. Should you choose a comforter or a Duvet? What is a Duvet Cover? There’s nothing like crashing into a comfy bed and getting all snug in your soft, fluffy bedding - and when it comes to coziness, there’s nothing like a comforter or duvet blanket to cuddle with. However, homemakers seem to be extremely confused when it comes to duvets and comforters –they can’t tell the difference between the two; and how can you choose the right alternative for your bedding when you can’t tell the two apart? Keeping this in mind, the following article will get you up to speed on the difference between a duvet & comforter, along with some tips on how to choose between the two. We will also tell you what a duvet cover and why this is another important element of any bedding. So, what is a Duvet? To put it as simply as possible, a duvet is an extremely plush, soft quilt that’s usually filled with synthetic fibers or feathers. Most duvets feature channel or box pattern quilting and look like a thick, cozy sack. They usually sport a minimal design with almost zero-overhang from the bed. Many homemakers usually go with a single duvet blanket instead of multiple layers of bedding. This because duvets can be surprisingly lightweight and provide all the warmth you need. A single duvet also means less folding & organizing in the morning. So what’s a comforter then? It’s very similar to a duvet, and that’s why there’s so much confusion between the two. However, comforters are usually thinner than duvets. They usually come in a set and are meant for layering. This makes them perfect for homemakers who want to give their bedding a layered look. However, since they are thinner than duvets, they do not have such a long life and usually go flat way faster than duvets blankets. Comforters also tend to be much larger, and usually overhang from the bed. Now, what’s a duvet cover? Just when you thought you got passed the confusion between duvets and comforters, there’s something known as a duvet cover that’s added to mix! However, this element is as its name suggests –it’s just a cover for your duvet. Duvets are difficult to wash and expensive to dry clean regularly. So manufacturers have introduced covers that go over the duvet blanket that can be removed and washed with ease. Moreover, the covers are available in varying colors and patterns, making them a treat for those like to switch up things every now and then!

  2. Which is better for me, a duvet blanket or a comforter? It all depends on your tastes and preferences. If you like the minimal look, then duvets are for you. However, if you like an over-the-top layered look, you could consider comforters. Duvets are also more suitable for those who do not want to put too much effort into their bedding but want a good amount of coziness and comfort. All in all, the end choice is very personal but at least, now what you know the difference between the two, you can make an informed choice!
