  1. May 8, 2017 How the Safety Features of Hybrid Cars for Sale can Prevent Accidents Image 1: Consumers Like the Modern Safety Features of Hybrid Cars for Sale One of the main goals of many hybrid automobile makers, apart from energy efficiency and environmental-friendliness, is to make cars safer and reduce the number of vehicular accidents. As a result, hybrid cars have integrated some of the most modern safety systems. If you’re interested in buying a hybrid car, here’s what you need to know about the safety features of hybrid cars and how they avoid automobile collisions. Page | 1

  2. Safety Features to Support Driver Awareness and Decrease Accidents Non-Linear Braking Systems Not all hybrid cars have the same safety characteristics but most have improved braking systems. Newer hybrid models have resolved the problems with earlier ones by removing its non-linear braking feel which means they don’t vibrate as much as the latter. For instance, the new Chevrolet Volt has a blended regenerative system that makes braking smoother and faster. Hybrid cars can avoid accidents through its modern braking systems that may be safer and more effective especially during emergency stops. Parking Assist Systems Poor parking skills can cause accidents, which is why many hybrid vehicles have parking assist systems. Parking support systems may include parallel parking assist as well as front and rear park assist. Assistive technologies are particularly helpful when drivers are in a hurry and may be too distracted to park properly. Blind Spot Monitor Numerous car collisions are due to vehicle blind spots, so several hybrid models have included blind spot monitors. They warn drivers of vehicles coming from their blind spots. Some might also offer additional warning if you use your turn signal and there’s a car next to you in an adjacent lane. Front Collision Warning and Braking A front collision warning alerts drivers of upcoming collisions with a slower moving or parked car in front. It warns you of the hazard in front, and when coupled with braking sensitivity, will offer full responsiveness for braking and prevent front crashes. Lane Departure Warning Lane departure warning tells you when your car is about to swerve out of lane and prompts you to return into the lane. Other versions of this warning system proactively keeps the car in the center. It usually has a camera at the windshield near the rear view mirror which constantly watches the striped and heavy lane marks of the road. Page | 2

  3. Adaptive Cruise Control Adaptive cruise control completes what’s been called the circle of safety as it avoids front collisions while the blind spot detection prevents rear side collisions and the lane departure warning watches out for side collisions. Adaptive cruise control automatically slows down or speeds up to keep pace with the automobile in front. Similar with the cruise control, the driver chooses the maximum speed, and subsequently, a radar sensor watches the traffic ahead, and controls your car’s movement so that you’re 2 to 4 seconds behind the car in front. Most adaptive cruise controls are paired with a pre-crash system that warns you of collisions and can start braking the car for you too. Many hybrid cars are often built with these safety features. If you want to learn more about these features visit dealers with hybrid cars for sale, to check if they have these systems for greater protection against car accidents.
