Comitted to “clean beauty” and “safe ingredients”, the American brand claims its best-seller, Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40, to protect the skin from a broad solar spectrum, including UVA and UVB (responsible for skin aging and sunburns) as well as blue light and infrared light (damage DNAs in subcutaneous tissues). Besides, the product contains skin-nourishing (养肤) ingredients, including red algae, meadowfoam seed compounds and frankincense for skin hydration and soothing. On Xiaohongshu (小红书), one of the most engaged posts recommending this product summarised its advantages: uncoloured, non-oily, jelly-like, and good pre-primer base. Ranked the 8th best-selling sunscreen brand in 2020, the Chinese local brand, Winona (薇诺娜) is another fast growing example and its sunblock milk is developed specifically for sensitive skins. While protecting the skin from UV and visible lights, the product also contains purslane extracts, ginger root extract, bisabolol, tocopherol and allantoin for reducing stimulation discomfort, soothing skin redness and repairing light-damaged sensitive skins. One of the top engaging Xiaohongshu post says the lotion is thin and light and takes about 4~5 minutes to form a protective shield without leaving a oily finish on the skins, recommending it for sensitive dry skins. 3-Minute Beauty Trends The Booming Sunscreen Brands in China

RE:CIPE and COGI take a step further and make the caps of their sun spray bottles UV-sensitive, reminding users of UV strength with changing colours. As UV becomes stronger, RE:CIPE's cap turns from colourless to purple, while COGI's cap turns red from yellow.
